It's ok for things to get old -well, maybe not mayonnaise

Harvey and I sit in the bars, have a drink or two, play the jukebox. And soon their faces turn toward mine and smile.”

And they’re saying, “We don’t know your name, mister, but you’re a very nice fella.” Harvey and I warm ourselves in all these golden moments. We’ve entered as strangers – soon we have friends. And they come over… and they sit with us… and they drink with us… and they talk to us. They tell about the big terrible things they’ve done and the big wonderful things they’ll do. Their hopes, and their regrets, and their loves, and their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar. And then I introduce them to Harvey… and he’s bigger and grander than anything they offer me. And when they leave, they leave impressed. The same people seldom come back; but that’s envy, my dear. There’s a little bit of envy in the best of us.

love to write — memoir pieces, poetry, scrapbook design articles- have a few things published. I was an editor of a small newsletter once. I’m just like Spanky from the 1930-40′s “Little Rascal’s” shorts. I’m not a leader but I’ll probably tell you what I think. I love humor above all, expensive imported perfume and everything film noir. I hate ants in my kitchen. I’m the complete opposite of myself. I write, sing, play piano, memorize “stand up” routines, love movies & graphic design, draw in black and white charcoal. I used to hang out in video game stores and freak out little 12 year old males playing games.  I used to love the looks on their faces when I’d look over their shoulder and say… ” you can’t beat that boss with THAT weapon.”

….

I mostly wear white shirts and tops and black bottoms. Im not sure why.

I have many combinations of the above and when I shop, I always end up looking for more black and white–strange because I love color.

Sometimes I get really adventurous and buy something gray. (or is it grey?)

….

I am bored easily. This is not what it seems. I have a million things I’m
interested in–I just can’t stay focused on one thing for long.

I love RPG/strategy video games but have stopped playing in the last few years.

I have dozens of projects going all at once but don’t finish half of what I start.

I wake up all night thinking of funny stuff to write about.

I put note pads and pens by my bed (like what writers are supposed to do) but I don’t use them.
I am deeply intuitive, some have called me psychic, but I don’t call it that.

….

Im not afraid of cancer.

I am afraid of cancer treatment.

….

DISLIKES:

….

I don’t like any clothing that is itchy.

I don’t like when my hair is dirty.

I don’t like people to interrupt me but it seems to be O.K. when I do it.
Sometimes I can’t handle anything–I am an occasional recluse.

I don’t like anything overly-cheerful, fake, or pretentious.
LIKES:

I love fragrance, rare perfume & aromatherapy.

I love hearts. I have many heart jewelry pieces.

My favorite evening alone is just a dark room, scented candles and flowers, with my HD wide-screen and wonderful movies – preferably ones made before 1950.

I love graphic art & photography and have spent many hours learning Photoshop and various art programs.

I love ad art and have collected many original AA magazine illustration art pages.

I love babies and pets. I crave having another…..pet!

I love young people and young old people.

I am attracted to originality. Originality is rare. ….

The people I like best are usually smarter than me and ones who by their nature, see humor in everything.

I love the feeling of my dogs chin when its cupped in my hands.

I love watching old MGM musicals.

If nobody is home, Ill dance with Fred Astaire.

….

My favorite thing is to laugh. This keeps me sane.

I love stand-up. The talented ones are unappreciated.
I’m pretty sure I could write stand-up.

I’m also pretty sure Eddie Izzard is a genius.

FACTS about me:

I grew up an only child and lived with my mom.
My mom died of cancer when I was 17.

I took piano lessons for 7 years and I also sing. I was in Glee-type competition choirs all through high school and in college performed with the Glendale Symphony.

I now sing karaoke online – really great transition from the above. :p

I have had plastic surgery…when I was younger (31). Boobs? No.

I was robbed at gun point while sleeping on the beach in Mexico when I was 19.

I’ve stood atop a glacier in Alaska.

I saw a sunset at midnight in Glacier Bay fill the entire sky and sea with colors I can’t even describe.  The entire cruise ship became quiet.  How someone could be an atheist after experiencing that is beyond me.

I walked around a Chinese village taking Polaroid pictures of poor children and afterwards gave them the pictures. I’ll never forget their faces.

I’ve seen the sun rise on Mt. Haleakala.

I’ve seen volcano flowing while flying in a helicopter over Hilo.

I’ve been on a double decker 747 in first class traveling to Europe.

I took a boat ride in a cave where glow worms hung from cavern ceilings in New Zealand.

I’ve been in a hammock on a beach where they filmed Gilligan’s Island in the Bahamas.

I once ate next to Ricky & Chris Nelson in Hollywood.

I’ve chatted with Cloris Leachman, Bob Hope, Elliott Gould, & Regis and Joy Philbin in Beverly Hills.

I knew and socialized with Charles Manson’s younger cousin in the late 70′s.

My dad once owned a mine in the California desert near China Lake. I’ve sat on a mountain top near Death Valley where no people within 50 miles in any direction.  The smell of sage and the quiet breeze and wildflowers there will haunt me forever.

I claim to have had a boring life but after rereading this -

I realize it’s been sort of interesting…

I learned to play Rhapsody in Blue piano concerto in F (George Gershwin) when I was 16 years old.  Never heard of it? Watch a United Airlines commercial -I work for an opposing airline – go figure. :p
